Tag types & features

Every SirTagAlot tag is an NFC chip with its own web page. When it is registered you choose what it is for. There are three types:

πŸ”Œ Conduit

What it is and where it goes: Fixed along a conduit, duct or cable run – usually at regular spacing and at pits, bends and entries. Tags on the same run are linked in sequence.

Who uses it: Installers register and verify them; asset owners and anyone digging or working nearby scan them.

What you see when you scan it: The run it belongs to, this tag's place in the sequence (previous / next tag), chainage, GPS location, cable details such as fibre count and type, photos and notes.

Features

  • Run details: name, spacing and the ordered list of tags on the run, with GPS length
  • Per-tag chainage, GPS position and photos
  • Previous / next tag navigation along the route
  • GeoJSON download of a run for maps and GIS
  • Notes, including β€œverified on site” notes
  • Admin review: mark a tag verified or rejected

πŸ—„ Cabinet

What it is and where it goes: Fixed on or inside an electrical or comms cabinet door.

Who uses it: Installers upload the drawings; asset owners manage it; technicians and contractors on site retrieve documents and submit updates.

What you see when you scan it: The cabinet name and site, plus the list of stored documents with the price to retrieve each one (or all of them as a bundle).

Features

  • Stores install PDFs and photos, kept outside the public web folder
  • Paid document retrieval priced by how long a document has been stored: a base fee plus a monthly rate (optionally per MB), up to a cap; bundle price for all documents. Prices are set by the admin – current values are examples
  • Public field submissions: anyone on site can upload redlines, as-builts, modifications, test results or photos by entering the tag code
  • Field submissions are published straight away and clearly labelled as β€œverified on site with tag code, not checked by the owner”; admins can hide them
  • Contributor credits: submitters get a credit code; credits (no cash value) can be used to retrieve documents

What it is and where it goes: Fixed on a machine or piece of equipment by its maker or owner.

  • Manuals by category (user manual, quick start, safety, service manual, datasheet) and software links
  • Model and serial number, owner and person in charge (owner controls what is shown)
  • Free for end users – activated once (paid) by the maker; safety and who-is-in-charge info is never paywalled

FAQ

Do people need an app to scan a tag?

No. Tapping the tag opens its web page in the phone browser. You can also type the tag URL.

Where do I find the 6-digit code?

It is not written on the tag. Ask the tag owner – they can reveal it in their account (the reveal is logged).

Can I change a tag's type later?

The type is chosen when the tag is registered. Ask an admin if a tag was registered with the wrong type.

Does it work on iPhone?

iPhones can read the tags. Writing a blank chip from the browser needs Android Chrome; on iPhone use an app such as NFC Tools to write the URL.

What does the free demo bag contain?

One tag of each type so you can try them all. It is limited to one per account and address.

Are the prices final?

No. Shop and retrieval prices shown are examples until the operator sets real ones.
